Snowy February

Snow in IrelandIf I had to use one word to describe the month of February I would probably choose snow as this last week has been the worse in years in terms of snow. Of course, snow and ice have caused chaos on the roads all over Ireland.

The above picture has been taken just today in Enniskerry (Co. Wicklow) which will give you an idea of how heavily has snowed in recent days.

Dublin: Smoke free city

Smoking ban is well established in Ireland since March 29th 2004.

Dublin was the first European city to introduce a smoking ban in the work place. This means that smoking in Pubs and Restaurants it's not allowed so it is quite normal to see lots of people outside Pubs smoking and believe it or not, it's great for socializing and meeting people.

In order to attract customers, some Pubs have introduced beer gardens, usually fitted with sunscreens and gas heating so smokers can enjoy a cigarettes even in the rainy Ireland.

In my opinion the smoking ban was a great idea as no smoking means no irritated eyes and no smell of smoke on your clothes the following day. Of course some smokers may disagree, although you would be surprised of the amount of smokers actually happy with the smoking ban.
